Medcy Inc. is a Thrift Store for gently used/new durable medical equipment (DME) and healthcare supplies for people of all ages, at an affordable price and for some at no cost.
The area served by Medcy is Houston,TX (County-Harris) Population- 4,652,980 and its surrounding areas. By 2030, 17% of Harris county residents will be age 65 or older, which transalates to 1 out of every 6 residents.
14.57% of families are below poverty level.
6% of the population is 16 and older and unemployed.
28% is uninsured (Oct/2020).
The aging Texas population will have far reaching health care implications, including an increased need for affordable DME.
When you can not afford DME (wheelchairs, crutches, canes, walkers, hospital beds, lifts, shower chairs, bedside commodes) your rehabilitation is at a standstill and daily living is not what it could be.Medcy wants to make sure that anyone that needs DME will have access to it.
Medcy implemented a Daily Difference Affect program in 2019. This program is available for patients, referred to us by case workers, with limited income needs and requiring DME quickly, and at no cost. Within the Harris county areas, available items are prepped, sanitized and delivered, free of charge.

The Impact
Health Impact
Reused (DME) improves health and safety, minimizes doctor visits, returns to hospitals, and reduces or delays assisted living and nursing home placements. DME allows people to remain in their home out of the more costly hospitals and nursing homes.
Environmental Impact
DME waste fills up our landfills and pollutes our water and air. Recycling DME reduces waste and it saves resources used to manufacture new equipment.
Financial Impact
Consumers in need have access to new and gently used health related equipment and supplies at a discounted price. Medcy's approach to cutting medical costs changes the price of durable medical equipment. Reuse of DME helps to contain and reduce costs at the state level (Medicaid, safety net hospitals)
Individual Impact
Medcy is committed to enpowering persons with disabilities or lack of mobility due to chronic illness, to control their own lives and to live independently through reuse of DME. Helping with building confidence and removing depression because of prior immobility.
